I found this latching footswitch on cpc. It's £5.50 inc vat with no p&p. The cable with moulded on 1/4" jack is a bit thin, but it is small (about 10cm square) and robustly well made with two metal halves, rubber tread and non slip pad underneath.

It's meant for use with musical equipment, but it would be ideal for low voltage on/off remote control of a machine tool.

You would have to order about 10 to get free P&P from CPC, otherwise it costs £5.95. Postage is free for orders over £45.00 ex VAT.

            Hi John,

It's been free for all orders for a few months. I had a £13.99 order delivered free this morning, ordered Monday night.

              Like you Neil,

Ordered Sunday night, arrived by next morning's post.

              Cost of order, £3.16.

I think free postage is for online orders only but I stand to be corrected on that.

Some of their special offers are incredible.

Wouldn't momentary action be preferred for control of a machine tool ? Any latching should be arranged via the contactor.

Of course if the machine doesn't present any hazard, then a latching switch may be acceptable.

Thanks for pointing out free postage – CPC here I come!

Fair point David, it depends on the application, but I suspect most of us here could bodge a momentary switch into the case, its the small, neat case that would be hard to make easily.

                    >thinks< actually I could do with a momentary one to replace my momentary 'punch in' switch that's presently just fitted in a bit of bent aluminium. Back to CPC I go…

The mind boggles – "customers also bought" one of THESE!

You will be glad to know I was able to obtain an RoHS certificate of compliance for this product.
