I have just got hold of a Startrite Bantam pillar drill which is in working order, I would like to strip it and replace the bearings and I was wondering if anyone has any information that may help me. I have spoken to ALT Saws in Gillingham who are the main dealers but they have told me that the Bantam dates from the 60's and have no information on them, they were made elsewhere and rebadged Startrite they tell me.. I am sure that out there somewhere someone can help. Thanks in anticipation, Pat

Thanks for that, I did find them on google but only they list the Mercury on their website however I will give them a call later on just in case, best regards Pat

This helpful video will explain the concepts of what you may have to do, even if your drill is not using exactly these methods. The design of drill presses has not changed significantly for a long while…

Thanks Rob, The video is very interesting, I would have liked to see him use a copper mallet to hit the shaft though, I have now assembled my Startrite and I am preparing it for painting. The only thing missing is the quill return spring assembly. I am making the holder for it and I need to find a spiral spring, I have seen a few suppliers on line so I should be up and running when the weather warms up a bit. Thanks again, regards Pat
