      Hi

This plasma cutter is for sale at £400 from TW Wholesale Swadlincote and I am thinking of buying one!

Has any body got any information about the company or product – good or bad?

Have done a search on the Internet and nothing bad has shown up.

      Much appriciated.

      Cheers Michael.

Sounds lik a variation on the Generic Cut 40 plasma cutters.

I have one of these and it's awesome but mine only goes up to 8mm which at that thickness looks like oxy cutting. where it comes into it's own is around 3mm – 5mm.

Think I paid about £240 for mine off Ebay.

If you can keep the feed constant and steady the cut at 3mm is very close to laser cutting.

I have a big plasma, 200 amp, 3 phase which will cut 16mm and sever 20mm but to be honest this little one gets more work than the big one because it's so easy to use and economical.

The big plasma can actually generate more heat from the gimbal on the electric meter than the machine.

            Hi John

Do you know the Ebay supplier of your plasma cutter? It would be nice to save £150 .

            Cheers Michael

Hi Michael, plasma cutters are very quick, clean and easy to use, on almost any metal unlike oxy, BUT the ad men have good imagination and make claims like fishermen ! when it comes to depth of cut be very causious and try to get all tecnical info, most important get circuit diagrams , they may prove invaluable if in due course you have any trouble !

Paid a lot of money for a BOC/murex unit ! when I had trouble with it I found out it was a badged cheap italian model, BOC wanted NOTHING to do with it .

Do you have experience of using this type of gear ? If not get back to me, I'll offer what help I can on their use . good luck Noel

                Hi Noel

Thanks for your reply. Your experience is exactly what I want to avoid.

SIP is a brand name I recognize but not had anything to do with them, they have a showroom in Buxton which is not to far from Sheffield.

I tried to build a plasma cutter without much success, got it to burn a hole in a piece of wood!

                Cheers Michael

                  Michael,

Bought mine off a guy called Mike over Melton Mobrey way, he ran a site called Cut40.com but thats gone now.

Did a bit of searching and this looks to be the same guy.

                  **LINK**

Looks to have moved from home and set up in a unit. Collected mine and paid extra for 2 year warrenty but they are building this in now.

They say 12mm for this one which is a newer version of what I bought, looking at consumables mine has now been downrated to a Cut 31, still pleased with it but things move on

Very impressive setup where they can test under load, not just box shippers. They also repair these and other plasma cutters plus the AC/DC Tig units which is nice to know because these are full of electronics and you could spend more than a new one replacing boards..

                    Hi John

                    Thanks for the link.

I will give this site some serious consideration, the fact they are not just box shifters has got to be in their favour.

I seem to remember you had yours linked up to a CNC thingy! So is it a touch start?

                    Cheers Michael.

Plasma cutter a cut40 arrived yesterday from Plasmapart, had a quick play to make sure it wasn't DOA. Not allowed to use it for real until Friday. Tested it on an old leaf spring about 12mm thick plus test welds. It cut through it easy but there was a lot of dross holding the cuts together, this is to be expected because it's near its limits plus my lack of experience.

                      Cheers Michael.

Impressive, I'm sure mine won't cut 12mm but never tried it. Will do so next time I get it out.

Thanks for the heads up Michael.
