Hi Hansrudolf,

There's an attractive simplicity and el;egance to that lathe.

I'll start a new thread – can you post another picture showing how the lathe reconfigures to have a gap bed?

I have searched the site, for Halbegger, and this is the only reference!

Hi Michael

Thank you for posting that link.

The last image is a drawing of the head stock, a double row taper centre (for adjustment of the preload) roller bearing. Conventional and thrust ball bearing to the rear, With integrated collet closer.

Nice Lathe…..

As I thought when I first saw the picture, a Schaublin! In fact all parts are interchangeable with Schaublin and vice versa.

Robust and versatile, I would like one or a Schaublin.

Neil,

I'm guessing here; but it seems likely that he meant "extends" by the use of Raising Blocks.

The Schaublin set is pictured here, along with some other "objects of desire" … like that double tee slotted Angle Plate!

I'm really sorry, but never in my life did I tell such a thing!!! Like many other people I own more than one lathe, and the one with the extendable bed is in my album together with the pic of its threading table. The name of this lathe is "Gral", not "Habegger". This latter machine also has no raising blocks (as mentioned above), although it would be quite easy to produce such things.

Unfortunately I have no good picture of the extended bed, but will try to rectify this wneb time permits.

Some pictures are now in my album (Gral thread).

Google translator is very clever (ich verschtand nöd Walisisch, mängmol nöd emal üses Walliser Düütsch!)!
