How would i sharpen some valve seat cutters i have, they are probably HSS.

I'm thinking stone them ? Or could i send them off to be done properly ?

Depends on what sort of valve I suppose, if for full size car engine I would hand stone the cutting faces and try it, sometimes works. Probably cheaper to buy a new one than have it ground

            Hi,

If the cutters are not half destroyed, stonning is possible.( not free hand)

But keeping the right/good angle is Important (for matching with valve)

You have to built a fixture like a " watchmaker-filing-guide" , the rollers will

            guiding your stone flat.

            have a sunny WE

If you stone it on the front edge rather than the top of the teeth there is no dager of loosing the correct angle and you should be able to do it by hand if it is not too bad.

              Russell.
