In MEW-077 there is an article on updating the Worden Mk-1 Tool & Cutter Grinder.
Under the first photograph showing the revised table assembly is the comment “The table now pivots at the back (i.e on the side remote from the grinding wheel) rather than the front.” The current, Hemmingway version likewise pivots at the back. I’m not familiar with the original design but it would seem that it pivoted at the front near the wheel … which strikes me as being preferable since the height of the grinding point doesn’t vary so much when the table angle is changed.
Does anyone know why the pivot point was changed to the rear as an “improvement’. Other than that bare statement under the photograph, I could find no other explanation in the article.
Was the original, Mark-1 design published anywhere?
