Not without a pipe spring inside, which of course they don't show. Unsupported, it will crease and fold up every time, hot or cold. Even with a spring inside it needs pulling round your knee, you can't expect it to flow like plasticene

I don't believe the claimed working temperature either, boyo would have a job holding copper pipe at that temperature in his bare hands that close to the heat source.

Very large doses of advertising puff here I think.

You have to click twice, close the overall Screwfix ad and do it again.

Not enough distance between hands to get the required leverage to bend pipe, plus it must have been done on a pipe bender initially, or as Brian says with a pipe spring inside, & then bent on his knees… oh we poor mortals; to be taken in by such succinct advertising.

Yes, Thanks Nick, the web site picks up my IP address in France. By my question was – Is 600 deg C really hot enough to alter the properties of a piece of copper pipe to make it easier to bend. I didn't think it was.
Incidentally, I quite often bend 15mm pipe (16mm here in France) around a gas bottle without a spring after annealing. 22mm takes a bit more grunt !!

                            Hello Bob,

I bet you get quite a lot of flattening doing it that way.

                            Brian

Nope – The secret (if you can call it that) is to anneal the tube first, heat to dull red and quench in cold water. "As Drawn", you have no chance.

Hi Bob, well apparently 600 deg C is hot enough, see this **LINK**. However, I don't know if you would be able to get the required amount of heat into a piece of copper pipe shown in the ad, and probably not before it started to burn your hands, even though the ad shows the guy doing it with gloves on. I've had to anneal 15mm copper pipe to do some plumbing jobs and needed a fairly big propane flame in free air and it takes a bit of doing over the length that the ad seems to show. But what do I know.

                                Regards Nick.

Looks a load of rubbish to me, one of the easiest ways to bend plumbing pipe if it's hard is to anneal it[heat to red] quenching in water does nothing to the annealing process other than cooling it & helps some of the scale to come off then put a pipe spring up the bore.
