Spun this post off from the original mach 3 thread so it's back on topic.

We, small son and myself run a web based support site for the Sieg CNC machines.

This is a two tier site, some of the site anyone can see, some is only for registered users.

Would there be any demand for a sub forum for new users to Mach3, sorry can't do Linux, not enough experiance, ?

We have plenty of server space so that's not a problem and can handle any size of files

I do not class myself as an expert but do have a long associationship with Mach 2 and later Mach 3 when Art was in charge.

          Hi John

I find the Art Software forum helpful but when searching and reading posts generally a bit over my head and time consuming to find that answer your looking for.

As a new user for cnc milling I would certainly be interested in a forum dedicated to entry level mach3 and G code for both mill and lathe.

Also of interest at entry level are:-

          1. Economical 3D milling regarding Cad and Cam.

          2. Digitising

          Cheers

          Nigel

"Maidens prayer" Can we have a link?

I for one, would be pleased to contribute my 2&3D CAD knowledge if desired.

                The site link is http://www.smallcncsupport.com

As I stated this is the Sieg support site and the members part is not visable but in all fairness there isn't a lot on there. Most problems we have are setup problems and once they have been sorted everyone seems to get on OK.I'll get small son who does all the site work on here nad the free advert site to sort a sub forum out and repost the direct link later when it's set up.

Took a look! – I have an old ArcEu conversion. It seems the registration is only for newer machine users? i.e Dealer info etc. requirement.

                      Rod,

The support site is for Sieg machines only, and technically for one year although it's never enforced.

The site was never runing when the conversion machines were done.

I see on another thread that you run CNC courses. Would you PM some details and location info. please.

OK guys site up and running.

                          http://training.smallcncsupport.co.uk/

Four categories, General, CAD/CAM, Milling and Turning, think that we do as I hate 1,000's of groups and sub groups.

Typical forum startup, you have to register and the first posts do no appear straight away as they are moderated against spam, after that it's a free for all.

Nothing on there at the moment but if you want to post please do so, in fact an introduction will get you past moderation. We will start adding content tomorrow but hopefully the site will be used for all and not small son's and my blog.

                          Feedback will be willingly accepted.

                          John S.

                            John,

I'm assuming you know the X2 as well as the X1 and X3. I've had the head casting apart in two pieces and there is no positive location to realign them. For those who wonder what I'm on about the X2 head is in two parts one with dovetails, the other with the spindle held together by four M8 bolts, but no key or even two adjacent, level surfaces as a guide for alignment.

The sides of at leas the front casting are not parallel, presumably the dovetails and spindle are aligned with reference faces. I'm guessing these are either the tops or bottoms of the castings so I've gone with shimming the back up on a surface plate while the front rests on the plate..

Do you have a better way for realigning these castings?

                            Neil

                              Neil,

Not all that familar with the X2.

I do have one but it's the prototype one that ARC sells with the fixed column and the brushless head, what's know as the Super X2.

This has a different head to the basic X2 and the head on these is a one piece casting, sorry.

Sounds as if it could be a very useful site for me as I have completed my SX2 conversion and now need to learn how to use it!

Only problem is that the link doesn't work for me.

The link has also stopped working for me, I get a 'Forbidden' message.
