My ancient Myford oil gun has finally got to the point where it leaks more than it pumps, so I need a replacement.

I've never been keen on the Myford item, it leaked from day one. Can anyone suggest a (not too expensive) non-leaking alternative ?

      TIA

My immediate response is the PressParts item. I have one and it is fine. However, looking at the PresParts website they have split their offering:

Mine looks like the silver one which is now specified for grease frown

Have you tried to replace the leaky seal(s)? Can often be a good deal cheaper than buying new (some of which may leak from new).

MEW No.178, Page 46. An Oiler for the Myford Lathe, by Barry Forrest.

I made one, and it works very well – better than the original oiler, of which I have two.

Made from the scrap box and used an oil can I already had. The conversion of the oil can was non destructive.

I also gave up on the Myford oiler and bought a Reilang, 200ml size from one of ME several stockists. Quite expensive but you get what you pay for. It never leaks and I reckon that it's paid for itself in savings on cost of oil wasted by much cheaper but awful designs. I have a number of different brands/designs of which warrant "chucking over the hedge". Must have a clear out – another roundtoit but this one would be easy to do!

Thanks folks. Having had a look at the various options I've gone for a Reilang R003-253. There are other, possibly better, ones – but too expensive for me surprise.

                    Bob,

                    Please could you clarify?

Is your 'old' Myford oil gun the small Tecalemit gun?

If so, does it leak from the nozzle to oil nipple junction or from the filler cap end or both?

                    Best regards,

I hto ave a Reilang R003-253 oil gun which I use on my Super 7 lathe, but it won't oil the top or cross slide nipples, only oil those positions with a movable cap/lid as on the counter shaft. Is there an alternative tip to fit on the end of the pipe, so that I can lubricate the likes of top/cross slide and other similar nipples. John

                        John Fletcher 1, hi

I also found that problem, solved by getting another Reilang with a flexible spout.

If you want one, search @ Macmodels, Blackgates, Glr/ Kennion, maybe others

Yes, it is the small Tecalmit gun, and it leaks from everywhere it possibly could leak. It's 25 years old, so not really surprising.

My Myford oil gun leaked from new. So like many others here, bought a Reilang and have saved LOTS of oil and stayed a lot cleaner over the years!

I have two Reilang oil guns, both with fixed vertical spouts I have been looking to buy a replacement flexible spout for one of them to fit my Myford lathe, without success. Can any point me in the right direction. John
