I need to make some M6 x 0.75 LH metric screws. Easy with the correct die, As these dies are like hens teeth. I looked to my imperial Colchester Bantam to cut the threads. As the lathe is new to me I'm not sure as to the change wheels and gear box lever positions to select to cut this metric thread. I have a full set of change wheels. Could somebody give me some advice on the correct lathe set up please.

This little Windows program might help:

          **LINK**

You just have to enter your leadscrew pitch and list all the change wheels you have and it will come up with a few suggested setups.

Have you checked out the replies to your earlier posing for a die supplier?

            If not, have a look!

If you have and the replies are not suitable, then a reply stating this in that post, would be appreciated (at least by me).

I purchased a die from China, not sure what quality it will be. This afternoon I set up the Colchester and cut a good M6 x 0.75 LH thread. So the die may be good to clean up the single point cut thread.

Cutwell sell Full Form inserts in most thread sizes, LH are listed, saves using a die to form the crests.

                  This a reasonable quality M6 x 0.75 LH die:

                  Round Dies, left, Mf, DIN 223 (DIN EN 22568), HSS-G, 6 x 0.75 » VÖLKEL SHOP (voelkel-shop.com)

£16.07, the devil is probably in the postage.
