        Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent Dukem pen on eBay UK for me?

I have a tin of engineers blue which I can mix up with meths, but having a pen would save time and hassle.

        Thanks 😊

If you just want to save on the mixing up then buy "layout blue" or marking out blue" keep the engineers blue for fitting parts etc.

I use Sharpies for smaller areas and Pentel N60 if a bit larger but they don't stay on quite as well as proper marking fluid particularly if using coolant/paraffin/WD40

If the engineer's blue is spotting blue, then it's no good for layout work (it won't dry). If it's prussian blue mixed with shellac, then it's the right stuff. Alcohol or acetone works as a solvent.

A pen for it would be a struggle because it'll tend to dry out on the felt tip and need re-wetting to get it to work again.

A paint brush sealed into the lid of a bottle or jar, and kept submerged during storage works very well, as does a sheet of paper shop/kitchen towel rolled up tightly and dipped into the bottle (re-wet or use another next time).

I use Dykem for sheet or bar stock work and sharpies for smaller items.

Don't do what I did and knock the bottle over the day you buy it, spilling a third of a bottle all over the workbench…
