Looking for advice on which slideway oil for my newly acquired WM250 lathe & WM16 Mill – would like to use the same oil for both machines, slides and general lubrication. Should I get 68 or 32 – is it only the viscosity that's different ? or should I use something different altogether ? Thanks in advance

ISO 68 Slideway oil for slideways. ISO 32 Hydraulic oil for lubrication. It's not just the viscosity that matters, slideway oil has a cling factor to keep it on the slideways, even the vertical ones.

ISO68 oil for most horizontal slideways.

            ISO220 for most vertical slideways

ISO32 for rapidly moving slideways, such as surface grinders.

It is only essentially the viscosity that is different.

Those are what I use in my shed.
