Hi – so I'm now the proud owner of a Super 7, thanks for all your help in my previous thread.

I have the old stand from a ML8 which I'm going to sit the super 7 onto. It has a NVR that used to run the motor from the ML8, which I'd like to make use of. But, what is going on? I've wired up NVRs before and not seen such complication. It deffo used to work on single phase with a motor with the standard 3 wires.

Is it enough to join the earth wires, or should I cross bond to the stand? I think I already know the answer to that one.

      Thanks

OK, I managed to google an old thread on here, which gave me the handy info that there's a wiring diagram inside the front cover. Happy days. I'm leaving this up for future reference.

The loose cheese head screw is provided to enable earth (cpc) conductors to be terminated within the starter enclosure which will bond the starter casing and if fitted to a metal lathe stand using metallic screws and serrated washers will transfer bonding to the stand, you may want to also use a separate wire to provide even better bonding.

You will find it easier to make the earth connections with the interior removed from the base.

I see from the top pic the neutral is linked C to L2 to use the 3 heating coils of the overload, it is convention to link the live from A terminal to L2 and connect live to the motor from the B terminal with neutral to the motor connected to C.

According to the instructions, the motor was A and B which has worked fine, as you say using all 3 coils.

I joined the two earths into a connector, then ran a wire from this to the outside (much easier!) of the switch enclosure, filing the paint off first. I've checked the continuity between this and the lathe bed which is AOK.
